All Course Book Returns
- For current semester course books the “Text Refund Deadline” is one week from the first day of classes.
- Current semester course books purchased after the “Text Refund Deadline” are unreturnable.
- If the course is dropped the books may be returned one week from the drop date, and dated proof of dropping the course is required in addition to a cash register receipt.
- Books bought as new copies that are now in used condition will be refunded at 50% of the purchase price.
- Rental books and digital content purchased through the store’s affiliate partners are returnable as per those partners’ separate refund policies.
A refund may be requested ONLY if the following conditions are present:
- The original cash register receipt is presented showing date of purchase, prices
paid, product description and method of payment. This receipt may not be defaced or
altered in any way.
- The merchandise being returned can be matched to descriptions and prices on
the cash register receipt.
- The merchandise is in resalable condition, still bears the University Shop price
marking (if applicable) and is complete with any original packaging. (Store management
reserves the right to judge the condition of the merchandise, especially new textbooks.)
- For merchandise other than course books, the current date may not be more
than 30 calendar days from the date of purchase.
- If the merchandise was originally paid for with cash, money order, travelers
check or personal check, then the refund will be given in cash. If the merchandise was
originally paid for with a credit card or debit card, the refund will be processed
as a credit to the same card. If the item being returned was received as a gift, and proof
of purchase is provided, the refund will be given as a store gift card.
- The following items are deemed unreturnable, unless defective, and then only on an
even exchange basis: pantyhose, undergarments, hosiery, swimsuits, footwear,
lingerie, writing instruments, anything edible, health & beauty aids, cosmetics,
newspapers, magazines, maps, jewelry, watches, film, videotapes, audiotapes,
CDs, DVDs, cameras, calculators, phones, tape recorders, computer software,
non-course paperback books, reference books, study aids, all textbooks, which
are shrink-wrapped in plastic and/or labeled “Non Return If Unwrapped” or
“Magnetic Media Enclosed,” all special orders, clearance sale items, shipping charges,
any other items that may be deemed unreturnable by the management based on the
possibility of health risk, misuse or abuse.
FINAL NOTE: This policy will be strictly enforced. The management of the University Shop reserves the right to make any exceptions to this policy as deemed appropriate.
